About Kellie Kiernan

Kellie Kiernan is an Ohio-based licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) and registered art therapist (AT-R) with 15 years of clinical experience working with adults ages 18 and up. She practices using chat messaging sessions by appointment only and does not provide video or phone sessions. Because her license is issued in Ohio, she only provides counseling to individuals who reside in and are physically located in Ohio during each session.

Kellie focuses on a range of concerns including anxiety, anger management, emotion regulation, stress management and mindfulness, trauma, grief and bereavement, depression (excluding severe treatment-resistant cases), self-esteem and confidence, assertive communication, healthy boundary development, and social anxiety. She maintains a clear scope of practice and does not provide treatment for several conditions such as severe treatment-resistant depression or anxiety, bipolar disorders, substance use disorders, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, OCD, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, or marriage and family therapy issues. When a client’s needs fall outside her expertise, she encourages seeking clinicians who list those specialties.

Her clinical approach is eclectic, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Existential and Jungian therapies, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative and Psychodynamic therapies, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy. As a registered art therapist, she integrates art therapy perspectives when appropriate and intends to offer a respectful, open environment where thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be explored objectively.

Operational details are communicated up front: her hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and messages sent outside of a scheduled appointment are typically answered within 24 to 48 hours. The first session serves as an initial consultation and assessment to determine fit. If a client is more than seven minutes late to a scheduled session, the appointment is canceled and may be rescheduled. Clients should participate from a private, quiet space that avoids interruptions, and must not drive or travel while in session. Kellie does not provide clinical notes, legal documents, FMLA or disability paperwork, DSM-5 diagnoses for external requests, or other formal documentation on behalf of clients. She is not accepting clients at this time.
