About Karen Ball
Karen believes that most people have the capacity to cope with crisis, resolve problems, and develop greater personal insight, and she aims to provide encouragement and practical support when challenges feel overwhelming. She adapts her approach to each person rather than relying on a single model, drawing on a broad training background to tailor work to individual needs.
She is a fully qualified counsellor, supervisor and trainer and an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She trained at Anglia Ruskin University and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Integral Counselling, which covered the main theoretical models now used in her practice. Karen works with individuals, couples, families and groups and has a particular specialism in bereavement and loss in all its forms, including loss of pets, careers or lifestyle.
As a Relate-trained counsellor she offers focused support for couples in times of difficulty, and she also uses creative therapy techniques for clients who find it hard to express what they are experiencing in words. Karen provides supervision and personal therapy for qualified counsellors, trainees and other healthcare professionals, available either individually or in group formats. In addition, she delivers training in counselling, supervision, bereavement and creative therapy to help professionals and individuals develop greater self-awareness and communication skills.
Her practice meets in discreet premises in a residential area of Mayland and at the ExploringUcounselling premises in Sudbury. Karen is not currently accepting new clients.

Could Remote Therapy Be a Good Fit?
Many people ask whether therapy delivered remotely can make a meaningful difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or transitions in life, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions. One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can choose the communication method that best suits them - video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging - which can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule or to access support from different locations.
Therapists offering online work are licensed professionals, and clients can change therapists if they feel another fit would be better. For many people, remote therapy provides an accessible and effective path to the support they need.
