About Jamie Hood
Jamie spent three years providing individual and group therapy at a shelter serving pregnant and homeless women, addressing complex issues such as substance use, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, and codependency. She also contributed to a MediCal-funded, school-based program through the YMCA in the San Diego area called TIDES, counseling youth ages 5 to 18 and collaborating with school staff and community agencies on case management, crisis response, and medication monitoring.
In session, Jamie often draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore links between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and Solution-Focused approaches to set concrete goals in the present. She integrates attachment, existential, and mindfulness techniques to reduce symptoms, bolster self-esteem, and support personal growth. Jamie has training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is a certified marital and premarital therapist through Prepare and Enrich. Additional trainings include Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, trauma work, anorexia-focused interventions, play therapy, Prepare and Enrich workshops, and courses in law and ethics.
As a clinician, Jamie values ongoing learning and stays current with changes in policy and diagnostic understanding. She is a recently diagnosed person living with Type 1 diabetes and uses that experience to inform her interest in chronic illness and disability. Outside of work she enjoys running, rock climbing, general exercise, and reading, and she is a military spouse and parent to two young children. Jamie aims to offer a supportive space where people can process difficulties, find hope, and move toward becoming the best versions of themselves, and she would be honored to partner with clients in that process.

Clients can connect with therapists in the format that fits their life and comfort level, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety of options often makes it easier to attend sessions consistently and integrate therapy into a busy schedule.
