Donna Byxbe, LCSW

Donna Byxbe is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a career in Texas mental health care that began in 1995. She spent many years working in community mental health programs, supporting people across the lifespan including children, adolescents, adults, couples, groups, and older adults. In 2005 she opened a private practice and maintained a full-time caseload until 2020.

When the COVID-19 pandemic shifted the landscape of care, she transitioned to telehealth and reduced her in-person work because many in her smaller community were not comfortable with remote sessions. In early 2021 she accepted the vaccine and subsequently experienced complications that required a pause in practice for about three months. After recovering, she again faced illness in December 2021. Following those events she resumed clinical work through Better Help rather than reestablishing a solo in-person practice.

Her clinical approach draws on Cognitive-Behavioral and Psychodynamic methods as well as Client-Centered and Transpersonal therapies. In Transpersonal work she incorporates hypnotherapy, meditation, and inner child support when those techniques fit a client’s treatment goals. Treatment plans are shaped by the concerns and objectives the client identifies, and interventions are selected to support the goals the client wishes to reach.

When working with couples she emphasizes both individual healing and the development of healthier patterns together, using communication skills, compromise, and negotiation to support repair and growth. She regards each person as unique and centers client self-determination and respect in the therapeutic process. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW - she brings professional experience and guidance to help clients pursue the changes they want in their lives.
