About Daniel Gunn
Daniel trained academically with a BSc in psychology from the Open University in 2015, a diploma in therapeutic counselling from CPCAB in 2017, and a postgraduate diploma in psychopathology theory and practice in 2020. His earlier career in customer service, surveillance, and health and safety contributed transferable skills that inform his clinical work, and extensive travel and time living in different cultures shape his understanding of human behaviour.
He integrates ancient wisdom and modern psychological science, combining body-focused work, experiential approaches, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic psychology, and mindfulness-based interventions. Since 2020 he has specialised in trauma and trauma-related stress and is working towards EMDR-M certification - a modified form of EMDR that incorporates attachment-focused skills. He understands trauma through a neuroscience-informed lens and works with complex and developmental trauma, relational and attachment-related trauma, and associated symptoms such as anger, anxiety, depression, pain, shame, and sexual difficulties.
Daniel adopts a collaborative, client-centred style, tailoring treatment to each person by considering biological, psychological, social, identity, intuitive, and spiritual factors where relevant. He begins with assessment and practical self-regulation techniques before progressing to deeper trauma processing or problem-solving, using both bottom-up and top-down methods to help clients balance thinking and feeling. His aim is to address the roots of present difficulties, reduce symptomatic suffering, and support people to engage more fully with life, relationships, work, creativity, and curiosity outside therapy.

Could Talking Online Work Well For You?
Many people ask whether connecting with a therapist online can help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions, online therapy can be as effective as in-person sessions for most people. One of the main benefits is flexibility - people can choose the format that fits their needs and routines, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or ongoing text-based messaging. This flexibility can make it easier to keep continuity of care and to fit therapy into a busy life.
Therapists offering online work are licensed professionals, and it is possible to change therapists if a different fit is needed. For many clients, remote therapy provides a practical, accessible way to engage in therapeutic work while maintaining the professional standards associated with licensed practice.
