About Bryan Busse
Bryan earned a master’s degree with honors in Counseling Psychology and gained early clinical experience working in substance use and adolescent programs, including treatment for opiate users and school-based services for young people experimenting with substances. He also practiced with at-risk youth in county-mandated residential care and later joined a neuropsychology practice addressing traumatic brain injury, brain disorders, dementia, and pain management. During that time he trained in neurofeedback and biofeedback, integrating a more medical model with psychological approaches. His broad background informs work across addictions, traumatic brain injury, and cognitive or neurologically linked concerns.
Personal experience as a caregiver and survivor of a family member with Alzheimer’s disease inspired a specialty in geriatric and end-of-life care. He has worked in hospice, home health, personal assistant services, independent and assisted living communities, and memory care settings. He brings particular focus to stress, anxiety, grief, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, ADHD, addictions, relationship and family challenges, parenting, and depression, while also addressing aging and geriatric issues, attachment and blended family issues, cancer and caregiver stress, divorce and separation, hospice and end-of-life counseling, men’s issues, and traumatic brain injury. Clinically, he integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Bryan has lived and traveled internationally, gaining perspective from time spent in developing countries, and brings a previous background in business and finance to his therapeutic work, helping clients identify practical, realistic steps forward. He practices in California and provides services in English. He is not accepting new clients at this time.
