About Anita Novey

Anita Novey believes the human spirit holds greater power than any substance and that it deserves care and attention. She approaches therapy with a conviction that lives can be redirected after setbacks, and she considers it an honor to support people as they regain stability and purpose.

She spent 30 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and beginning in 1998 she served as a Drug Treatment Specialist working with adult male offenders who had substance use disorders. Before that, she worked for seven years in human resources and unit management. She left federal employment due to mandatory retirement but continues to draw on the meaningful clinical experience she gained there.

Although much of her work emphasized a cognitive-behavioral approach to addiction treatment, she also provided counseling around grief and loss as well as a wide range of relationship concerns. She has found gratification in helping people rediscover their potential and in supporting clients as they grow and regain control of their lives.

She holds a Master of Arts in Personnel and Organizational Psychology (1992) from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Business Administration (1988) from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. She is also an LPC - Licensed Professional Counselor, which reflects her formal credentialing to provide professional counseling services.
